"I will forever feel pretty in pink" - The Sartorial Doll

"I'll stop wearing black when they invent a darker colour" - Unknown

Champagne showers! With New Year's eve fast approaching and the urgent need to find my show-stopping look, I am still in brainstorm mode. WHAT TO WEAR? Obviously I am still dressless 10 days before the big countdown. So, I find myself back at the drawing board... Right now I am getting my inspiration from the Champagne Season Collection on www.farfetch.com. Blush and blossom pinks paired with none other than the chicest colour of them all, black, makes for a more than enchanting look. Every year at the rise of the spring/summer collections, I find myself obsessing over blush pinks. So it is wonderful to see them so prominent in the AW party trends. TOTAL LOVE! Farfetch have put together they're top party trends full of angelic, feminine dresses, paired with moody undertones. Drift into the night in clouds of organza and get ready to rumble in ruffles as light as air...

During the winter season, black is in my opinion, the chicest of them all, and well, paired with pretty pinks? That is sugar, spice and all things nice! The party season also calls for sparkle, whether that be in the form of dazzling jewellery, sequins or diamonds, you decide, just make sure that this year, you sparkle and shine into 2016!

  1. I have put together my favourite look, so here are my #farfetchfinds
  2. WISHLIST:

So, I have been wanting this bag for a while. This is my favourite version of the YSL Monochrome Satchel Bag this season, mainly for the tassel's and serpent detailing on the YSL. I like the back-to-school slash festival style it holds. These Saint Laurent oversized glasses are classic, like my look.

If you didn't already know, I am obsessed with the shirt and skirt combo. It's TOO CUTE! I opted for this Carven shirt because of its scalloped collar, it is cute and girly, sartorial but feminine. As for this Saint Laurent Pussy Bow, this is at the top of my wishlist and I am going to have to treat myself, and all my shirts... THEY NEED YOU! These two items are Sartorial and part of my signature look. The Sartorial Doll.
There is so much going on up top, so I would remain classic and keep
the colour and texture of fabric the same on my bottom half... LOVE these
Stuart Weitzman boots. LOVE LOVE LOVE!
Seeing as it is winter, I would pair together both the leather biker jacket
AND the Shearling Gilet, for a dramatic yet girly look...
plus it's added warmth BRRRRRR...!

Polo darling...Polo | No comments:

CREW

June, its JUNE! So it is officially summer and there was no better way to kick of this years summer antics than an outing to Polo in the Park... oh darling! Obviously I left finding an outfit till the last minute and well what happened? Full-blown FASHION ANXIETY is what happened. This is a genuine thing, literals. After spending 4 hours walking up and down Oxford Street, in and out of changing rooms up and down those awkward escalators in Topshop with time just tick tick bloody ticking! I was failing. First came Zara, the undignifyingly skinny model shone at me from outside, wearing this gorgeous pink blossom dress...BAM! GOTCHA...an outfit just like that. If only it was that easy... Because oh no, I looked like one of those Japanese pink dolphins, in other words, a beached whale. After frantically trying on what felt like a million and one two things, I know HELLO drama queen - I found...well...nothing.

Pros: I drank some PINK coconut water, yes there are apparently pink coconuts (or i am just...nuts)
Cons: The list is endless.

OK so after being an absolute, god-forsaken drama queen I woke up super early and successfully pieced together my outfit. With the sun shining and making more than a rare sojourn, it would only be polite to save the black till ce soir and lavish it up with blush pinks and Hollywood whites. Blush pink is definitely a key colour this season. The blossom trees might be dying y'all but this colour is growing on me more and more each day!

P.S I love these shoes...

These beauties are in Topshop this season, available in Blush pink, White and Black

So the outfit: FYI. I have 4 suitcases filled with clothes exempt from my wardrobe which I have been told need to be sorted. WHY? Because I have too many clothes.. some dating back to 2007 maybe even the 90s...I kid you not. WELL HELLO...I am a complete and utter clothes hoarder? DON'T MAKE ME DO IT. Guess what.. that dress I am wearing, I have had it since I was 16 maybe even longer and it was in one of the 4 cases! I know this because I wore it that time my father (without agreement) put me forward to sing with the live band on the biggest cruise ship of the world...

"aaaaaand now we have Bianca Caplan, all the way from London singing My Heart Will Go On!" ummmmm.....yeah so that totally happened. The video still haunts me today. I sang at the very front of the ship in front of a good 200 people...more over Celine Dion.

I pieced this Lipsy white tea dress with a baby pink Zara blazer which I accentuated by adding one of my Chanel pins. Oh you thought my jacket was Chanel? Whilst it unfortunately isn't, this jacket portrays a supple fabric with a sophisticated quality which in turn could trick anyone into thinking it was Chanel and when you add a pin well... How's that for Designer vs. Highstreet.

I dug up one of my flower crowns (not literally...the roses are fake) and Voila! I had managed to put together a look, with my favourite colour of the season and not spend ANY money! The day itself? It was TOO much fun. Seeing as it was PIMMS O'CLOCK, we all enjoyed a 'Personal Pimms' at all times. AKA too much Pimms to handle, who needs a cup when you can have a jug..........EACH #goals

What I Wore:

White Tea dress - Lipsy
Pink Blazer - Zara
Brooch - Chanel
Shoes - Balenciaga
Handbag - Chanel Boy Bag (TOTAL LOVE)
Flower Crown - Ebay
Sunglasses - Louis Vuitton

WANTED! Clothes Hoarder | No comments:

CLOTHES, C.L.O.T.H.E.S, C L O T H E S (I just got that thing where you stare at a word for too long and repeat it back to yourself with the thought like IS THAT A WORD? That sounds bizarre? How can the word clothes ever sound bizarre? Maybe I am going mad...)

ANYWAY...

As my mother would confirm I am a complete clothes hoarder, I need another wardrobe...in fact we have had to turn the loft into another wardrobe, so we can switch between seasons? Sounds ridiculous doesn't it, with there being rails and rails of clothes complemented with flurries of anti-moth distillers - Bit of a de-tour if you need something right? Well, I just can't throw away clothes because I know that one day I will wear them! Whether I lose weight (slash I will never be a size 4 again), put on weight (too likely for my liking) or I mean what happens if that trend comes back in fashion (I know it will)? Sometimes, I get attached to particular items of clothing which in due course are taken from me - it's an ongoing joke with my dad and my step-mum seeing as they are the ones that usually force me to ditch them!

In relation to my clothes hoarding...There was this American Apparel, white, crop shirt. Dad...remember this one? We still laugh about it today... (even though I am suspicious of its whereabouts) I loved how light-weight it was; I only used it for it's collar which I wore under dresses and jumpers galore. It got to the point where I had quite literally worn it to death and well...it had ripped. I resorted to ripping off the collar and doing a bit of DIY fashion and...Voila! I had a detachable collar.

Where has it gone? I DO NOT KNOW! After rummaging around for this minuscule bit of fabric here and there for weeks. It has gone. RIP.

So... I leave you all with this...there will be a reward...

Kisses,

Catwalk VS Highstreet: Jonathan Saunders VS Rare London | 2 comments:

Neon brights and bold patterns inspired by Miami's Art Deco District

2-Piece from Jonathan Saunders' Resort 2014 Collection

What is more satisfying than finding an almost identical piece on the Highstreet to what you've seen on the catwalk; I mean why pay ££££ when you can pay ££?

This week I pulled together my latest find by Rare London, a depiction of Jonathan Saunders' Resort 2014 collection, inspired by the effervescent scene of Miami's Art Deco District. When setting out on my quest to acquire this season's craze; the 2-Piece, I knew I wanted something flattering and fitting, only baring a slight midriff, with a skirt as opposed to shorts. The key to dressing to your figure is by creating illusions for the wandering eye. In this case, the matching hemlines camouflage a short skirt and create a flattering fit, with a small midriff occurring just above the waist (the smallest part of your upper torso). For under £50 I got a complete set

With neon colours sweeping the highstreet right now it looks like bold prints and neon brights are all the rage this season. Looking for a 2-piece? Check out Zara for some liquorice allsort inspired prints as well as Hawaiian floral sweeps (mainly short sets).

For the skinnier/petite frame, I would recommend Topshop which has its floors covered with its fair share of floral bralets and mini crops. Topshop is definitely top of the crop this season!

Looking to accentuate your assets this season? Then Topshop and Zara both have in the high waisted pencil skirt; whilst the fuller, longer skirt is available for those of you with never ending legs (I WISH!).

Check out Rare London's latest collection here or check out Topshop's Oxford Circus Flagship Store (LG Floor) for the Rare London Concession buys!

What I wore:

Top - Rare London £24.99
Skirt - Rare London £24.99
Boyfriend Blazer - Zara £79
LENKA Platform Sandals - Topshop £45
Necklace - Topshop £10
Handbag - Gucci Soho Disco Bag £570

Amor caecus est | No comments:

Travelling in Style

"Love is Blind" is a phrase that led me into a deep trail of thought...what does this mean? I am sure it means something different to everyone. Some may see this as falling for personality and not for looks or that love may fall within a danger zone (aka falling for your best friend) where you fear too much to admit it to them or to yourself; or even that we are blind to noticing something or someone.

Whilst I can admit that I can be blind to many things especially love, I was most definitely not blind to this beautiful landscape. So barren yet riddled with history and well, whilst there's not much if NO life (hence the Dead Sea) I felt more alive than ever. Whilst my legs were screaming at me to rest, all I wanted to do was climb this gigantic mountain and explore the history that lies dormant... Call me mad, but in life all the best people are completely bonking mad, including me! Whilst we did trek across the vast landscape, we did in fact opt for the cable car ride to the top rather than the snake path as I am not sure I would have survived. Literally it looked deadly as in people have ACTUALLY died.

At the top of Mount Masada you can see right across the desert with the Dead Sea stretching on for miles; Jordan is situated on the other side of the Dead Sea, a place I hope to one day visit with the 'Lost City' in Petra being on my Bucket List of things to see. I have never been in a desert nor to the top of a mountain like we did so I loved every single second of it. My father arranged for us to be chauffeur driven around for the day by the lovely Moni, not only did he give us a private guided tour at Mount Masada, he also took us to the Dead Sea where we all enjoyed lunch and I later indulged in a bit of a spa day (post to follow).

With the scorching sun and baring desert heat, I opted for a grey wash denim skater skirt with my 'Amor cauecus est' vest top, with a Gilly Hicks bralet underneath. I picked this A-line skirt up in Oxford Street on the Sale Rail in H&M for a mere £6..winning. Issue? My hilarious if not painful sunburn that covered my legs. As you can see in many of my photo's it looks as though I am wearing high socks...all my fault due to the fact I forgot to apply suncream on the day of the Marathon. IDIOT. TBH when you are waking up at 4am (usually the time I am coming in after a night out) you aren't really thinking straight. I was so nervous about the race that this honestly didn't even cross my mind...yet I look back and laugh and think it is my mark of victory slash I am now peeling and totally regret this! Gross, tights it is!

'Amor caecus est' Vest Top - Tea and Toast for Topshop
Grey Denim Wash Skater Skirt - H&M
Navy Lace Bralet - Gilly Hicks
Leather Converse - Converse
Frilly Socks - Topshop
Sunglasses - Bvlgari

SAMPLE SALE: SOPHIA WEBSTER | 2 comments:

Nothing better than a glass of Prosecco after running a half marathon...and buying SHOES!

This continues to baffle me...if anyone is familiar with how this is done PLEASE TELL ME.

One of the perks of having a BFF in fashion PR is that you get to know about all the sample sales; who, when and where. I for one love a bargain, and I have been quite lucky when it comes to shoes lately and no matter what I'm doing I can always find time for a good ol' sample sale.

So who was it this week? SOPHIA WEBSTER! If you have read one of my LFW blog posts from back in Feb (see here) you may have figured out that I am a huge fan of Sophia's eccentric aesthetics and quirky, youthful style. A shoe designer at best, Sophia's shoes are colourful, fun and flirty...yet expensive! So when I reached the finishing line of the Roding Valley Half Marathon to receive a call from Claudia asking me to go, I couldn't say no! No matter how much my legs demanded that I rest I jumped straight in the shower, grabbed a bagel 'to go' and off I went to Covent Garden...

Being the UK average shoe size of a 5, it meant that on my arrival most were AS USUAL gone. After trying on several styles in my size I got myself in a tizz regarding the fact 'Giselle' weren't in my size. Of course this pair of gorgeous black booties were all gone. I went for broke and tried a 4 1/2 and ... THEY BLOODY FIT. So about 10 minutes later I was £150 poorer but I had treated myself. Oh YARRR. A shoe fit for Queen B, Sophia's addition of what appears to be tiaras on the front of each foot is just what caught my eye. Total love!

Claudia also purchased a pair of black slouch booties, hers more elaborately detailed than mine with metallic-thread embroidery and an open toe with stiletto heel.

All heels were £150 with some being £200. Samples were £50 but were all in stupidly large or small sizes. The mistake many (including myself) make with sample sales is that you are inclined to buy something because it is 'designer' and 'cheaper'. DON'T. 80% of the time you are still spending over £100 on the piece and well... If you don't love it, DON'T BUY IT. I spent over an hour faffing over several pairs of shoes at the Nicholas Kirkwood sample sale, only to realise I didn't actually like any of the shoes in my size. Close to spending over £300 I refrained and left without regret. The key to bargains is to not buy rubbish but buy golden goodies that have a story to their purchase! If you find that golden goody, grab it, then go treat yourself to a glass of prosecco, just like we do! Retail Therapy...

What we wore:

Bea:
Dress - Sister Jane
Ostrich Feather Gillet - Miss Selfridge
Sunglasses - Topshop

Claudia:
Cheque Cigarette Trousers - Topshop
