This Girl Got Plaid | No comments:

The Flannel. As they like to call it across the pond in the USA is a plaid (tartan) shirt and a must-have item this season...if not always. Never heard of the term flannel? Well neither had I until recently. To me a flannel is a small square piece of towelling that you use to wash your face, and most definitely belongs in the bathroom. But....as usual I learnt the hard, if not hilarious way...

My fellow doll from America, Kat was visiting London from San Francisco when we decided to go to Lovebox Festival. Kat rings me up like 'Bea! I'm going to take my flannel...I think it's essential' So me being an absolute ditz... I pack what us Brits refer to as a 'flannel'. Except we both had completely different ideas about what a flannel actually was.

I will never forget the moment I whipped out that face cloth to be like 'I GOT MY FLANNEL BITCH'... oh my we literally laughed about that for so long! Missing you!

For today's look I opted for all black errrythanng...yes I love black and will stop wearing black when they invent a darker colour. Black can be a bit depressing sometimes, mainly in the daytime if it's not broken up by colour. All black at night is totally acceptable somehow, but in the daytime it's just not alright. So try tying a plaid shirt around your waist to add colour and style. I love this look, and I even added this Rose Quartz necklace, my latest purchase from Urban Outfitters. TOTAL LOVE.

This is a new look that I have put together and I love it, I would say it is effortlessly stylish. When it comes to causual dressing, I tend to always dress up! I CAN'T HELP IT! I am not one for wearing just jeans and a tee...and well I barely EVER, if not, never wear trousers. So for me this look is perfect and there are lots of different patterns and textures; from ribbed material to velvet and my leggings are verging on neoprene which i'm sure Alexander Wang would be very proud of.

PS. Sorry for the poor quality pictures... I've had to resort to iPhone selfies until I get my camera back... literally lost without it! Boo Hoo.

Work IT Girl | No comments:

Whilst I can't stroll into work wearing leggings and the latest tee (not that I would ever want to..I don't know if you have noticed but I DON'T do trousers..like ever) I still love getting all dressed up for work. Another plus is that I am not forced to 1) wear a corporate suit and 2) wear the same damn suit every single bloody day. Being a receptionist, this can sometimes be asked of you.

Dressing for work, I like to express my classic and signature, sartorial style, so the skirt, shirt and bow combo is always a winner - usually worn on Friday's or more often than not, 'Thirsty Thursday's'. Today, I have gone for my signature dress and collar look. If you haven't met me, or are new to The Sartorial Doll - I LOVE ANYTHING WITH A COLLAR, and no matter what, I will still try and shove a shirt slash collar under any dress, cardigan or jumper (I'm verging on obsessed...and yes mother, I can breathe...why wouldn't I be able to?)

This classic, black shift dress is one of my favourite bargain buys; anything bought from Primark in my opinion is...a bargain buy. For a mere £13 I have worn it probably over 100 times over the past 3 years and hell yeah it's still in perfect condition. With the addition of my (American Apparel) cropped shirt and dainty Chanel necklace this look is non-chalant and understated, a look fit for both work and apres-work playtime! Need a splash of colour? Add a silk scarf, my fave's come from the likes of Louis Vuitton and (OBV) Hermes.

TIP: Black shift dresses are beyond versatile, try pairing these with a long or short shirt worn underneath, or alternatively try adding a detachable collar.
Add a cropped jumper, cashmere cardi, fitted jacket, or your boyfriend blazer and you will find that this look can be re-invented a million times over.
In addition to this, try frilly socks and wedges for that/spring summer look, or tights and trucker boots in the winter! EVERY GIRL NEEDS A CLASSIC, BLACK SHIFT DRESS.

Due to the bipolar weather that we ALL love to hate in London, I opted for a black cashmere cardi from none other than my grandmother's fave - M&S (btw their cashmere is affordable and so comfy, as taught by my wonderful grandmother). As for the shoes, my fellow doll at work gave me these as a brand, spanking new hand-me-down due to them being too small. Thanks Doll! They were £25 from New Look and are honestly some of the most comfortable shoes I own.

Whats with the flowers? Give a girl a bouquet and she's sure to run off with it...okay maybe that's just me! If someones not going to give them to me...I'll give them to myself.

Bea Wears:

Black Shift Dress - Primark
White Cropped Shirt - American Apparel
Cashmere Cardi - M&S
Peep-Toe, Studded Heels - New Look
Necklace - Chanel
Silk Scarf - Louis Vuitton

Queen B of Constance | No comments:

If only this was the Upper East-side; meeting on the steps of Constance for coffee and gossiping over invites for Blair's latest slumber party, but unfortunately, it isn't and however much we all wish we could be Blair and Serena, we aren't.

I first fell in love with this 'Sassy School Girl Style' waaaaaay back in 2007 (gosh that seems like forever ago) when Gossip Girl first aired..and I have loved it ever since. I would class this as one of my signature looks as I love mix and matching bows and collar accessories whilst pairing different shirts with different skirts; and of course then there is my power accessory - the velvet hairband. So simple, yet so effective, I am lost without it. This preppy-chic trend can be tailored to each season by adapting patterns, colours, shapes and styles. This week we see the latest trends unravel on London's catwalks at LFW. We can expect to see longer skirts this season, with the pencil skirt making a comeback, which is unfortunate for me seeing as I am only 5ft 5...

Shirt/Shoes - Zara
Skirt - Topshop
Gillet - Miss Selfridge
Hairband - American Apparel
Handbag - Gucci
